Mary Wu received her medical degree from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1982 and has been practicing, teaching TCM and Acupuncture in China and Canada for over 40 years. She completed her M.Sc. at University of Waterloo and has over 30 years of research experience focused in the fields of endocrinology, reproductive biology, gene therapy, and acupuncture. She worked at the Benting and Best Institute at University of Toronto studied signal transduction in the field of diabetes, and as a researcher in Gene Therapy, and medical education at the Hospital for Sick Children and the Institute of Health Network. She was appointed to the Expert Advisory Committees for Natural Health Product Directory for Health Canada provided expert opinions regarding NHP regulation. She has been actively involved in the legislation and regulation of the TCM profession in Ontario and was appointed to the Transitional Council for the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO). She established the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TSTCM) in 1995 offering one of the leading professional TCM and Acupuncture education in North America. TSTCM has trained hundreds of qualified acupuncturists, TCM practitioners and doctor of TCM. Many of TSTCM graduates have established successful and rewarding practices, and some of them even become educators and leaders in the TCM field.
